A year ago I defended Putin and Russia from all the political BS the west says about him. I thought it was all baseless nonsense. I guess I was wrong. He's turned into a terror. He probably sees the writing on the wall for his tenure as leader of Russia and decided to send a message to Ukraine for showing how an ex soviet state should be governed. That's my guess. Worst case scenario is he will be voted out in 2024 so at least he can't become another Hitler. Something tells me he'll get thrown out of office before then though. No one supports this mess. Also, I don't think anyone blames the Russian people for this so no shame should be felt by them. This is just a case of a guy who held on to power a little too long. They'll probably have term limits after this.
