Why is this happening? Too many people want to fly and there are too many planes.

Redesigned the airplanes – just like cars. They have problems with people on the plane – crazy people, capacity, and well trained pilots.
Weather – thunderstorms and birds.
Most important jets engines.
This problems might not be solved over night. But they need to do something to put people safe on a flying trip.
Example: Airplanes jets engines give up, add two more extra jets would help planes land safe.
Or adding couple pair of parachutes on top of the plane. Might help slow down the plane for less impact.
I don't know things like that, I'm not an expert.
There’s nothing happening that hasn’t been happening sense forever. In fact air travel is even more safe than before cause of the upgrade in technology.

Root Cause Analysis: Pilot and Control Tower error: human. AND airlines & others wanting to quickly regain pre-COVID profits without regard for safety and the (inevitable) errors that can result from a stress-out & in some cases antiquated system – with even less fail safes. It's ALWAYS pay me now or pay me MORE later. Problem is the pay me more later is with human lives at stake. A penny wise and a dollar dumb could kill us if we aren't mindful. Careful.
