It destroyed my town of Port charlotte. I was outside my front door last night, admiring the stars and moon as they shined in the midst of the blackest of nights ( no power) that I had ever seen. It was then that the reality of this catastrophe that wrecked my town truly set in.; tears starting streaming down my face. No longer could I walk directly across the street to talk to Brittany, to tell her this wild story, to have dinner with her and skylar. Like me, she has a 9 yr old daughter she has raised on her own. Our daughters do everything together. Unfortunately, their home got destroyed.Their roof caved in, completely flooding out the house. It is unlivable. The mold is already growing; you can smell it. That was even Brittany’s first house- she was so proud the day she moved in. She proved them all wrong.
See,not only did their home get torn apart but so did mine. They were part of my home. They were the reason I’ve stayed in my house so long. Their home became part of my home. Their home was part of my daughter’s childhood. So many memories we shared in her home-just 2 single moms trying to make it and make sure our girls were happy and taken care of. It just hurts so much. People lost everything. It doesn’t really hit you until you see the damage in-person. It’s an overwhelming feeling for sure. Please pray for all those who have endured this tragedy. I know one thing-my town will never be the same

These storms are getting worse and yet the global warming/climate change deniers continue to say "nope it ain't true". Most likely DeSantis will blame the democrats for the storm.
