Here's how I look at it if I were to invade Taiwan and America the opposition to that invasion, I would start probing the states! Finding holes in our command and control. Find out exactly how far you can take countermeasures and see how we respond. Second, Xi Jinping will probably launch before Biden's out of office, just makes sense, he to slow to respond to threats and the fact he's compromised allows further actions to take place, without consequences!
