They signed a consent degree that they will obey the child labor laws?? That shouldn't need to be done, how about FOLLOW THE LAWS! The fine paid should be dispersed between the illegally employed immigrant children to better their lives!
I understand how hiring the minors could put them in an unsafe job but we need to look at the "why?" I want to know more about the kids and the hiring manager. Could this be kids they would starve without this job? Is the hiring manager part of the underserved community and they are trying to help inpoverst people get a good paying job? Or is it human trafficking and the kids are being put to work against their will?

Why not? I was driving semis on a farm for 10 plus hours during the summer. And why are teenagers allowed to clean at fast food establishments? Just keep the hours reasonable and and regulate it so it doesn’t interfere with school.

Many of the red state legislatures where these companies operate are looking to pass laws to relax child labor restrictions so that these companies can legally do what they've been doing illegally and continue hiring children for dangerous jobs in dangerous environments.
