Failing to file a timely return is not that uncommon. It's self-evident to the IRS. You did or you didn't file. How much investigation does that take ? Filing a return that is inaccurate or fraudulent would take some time to investigate but not the resources of an entire team. What's this agent always complaint about ? There must be hundreds of thousands or millions of returns filed that are questionable, not just Hunter Bidens. What kind of must be on TV or a streaming platform concern did he have prior to 2023 ? None, and none in the cases of others resolved by repayment and a plea to the charges instead of a trial. I want to see him publicly in 2024 and beyond expressing his outrage at how the hundreds of thousands of investigations are going.
It's not up to a IRS whistleblower to be concerned on how an investigation was handled. It's up to him to do his job and find the truth without breaking the law and breaking his Oath to the Constitution and let his supervisors decide how to proceed with his case. All Federal Agents take an oath of office. The oath of office and most case law do not grant any protection for deciding that an order is a bad idea, bad policy, or morally wrong. In fact, the oath does not grant any protection from anything. It is an oath of allegiance and a promise to do good work. Employees who believe they are being ordered to act in a manner inconsistent with their oath of office may pursue other options, such as whistleblower complaints, contacting their Senators or Representatives or their organization’s Inspector General, or any other avenue provided by law or regulation. Disobeying direct orders is generally not one of the available options. That means an employee who wants to argue that s/he is adhering to the oath of office by disobeying orders has a very tough hill to climb. There is also the option of going to the press, but that can bring its own set of risks. It is up to individual employees to decide how much risk they are willing to assume.

Interesting. Hunter admitted to taking too many tax deductions for income of 5 and 6 years ago of an amount of around 2 million dollars in 2 incidents and has since paid those taxes, never convicted. Plus, is now charged with buying a gun under the influence.
The Trump organization was actually found guilty of actual tax fraud. Guilty on all 17 counts and was fined 1.6 million dollars but never did pay back the 24 million plus owed. Trump made his company President pay the criminal penalty instead of himself. Trump did not buy a gun under the influence.
