Spirit of the game says Duckett should have walked on Starr's catch
Carey threw the ball when Bairstow was in his crease! Why the controversy? Bairstow tried to do it to Labuschange. Unusual dismissal but fair . Stuart Broad behaved appallingly.
From PNG here. I love this old rivalry cricket. I think the game was played and won fair. The rules of the game is what makes a cricket game exciting. Starc made a mistake when he caught Duckett and ruled not out and so is when Carey threw the ball back towards the stump in one motion after catching it. Let's just accept that a defeat is a defeat.
Where was the spirit of Cricket in 2019 world cup final
He’s giving the middle finger whilst discussing the throwout 😅
England are turning into real snowflake whingers. I wonder if its Brendan Mcallum's influence. NZ were always whinging too when Aus beat them.
Stokes is a beast💪.. he's like shane warne…he can take on teams all by himself…as for Australia good luck at headingley is all I'm saying 😂
You know Ben losing with a modicum of grace is also within the spirit of the game as well.
It’s a shame it took a chip on his shoulder before he batted how he should.
He should be grilling his mate Bairstow for costing them the match with a school boy error.
What's good for the goose is good for you ganders, you pathetic loser's, you pathetic poms, cry me a River 😄 lol
End of the over makes no difference. Stay behind the crease until the umpire calls end of over. The ball is live until then.
"Bairstow believed the umpire had called over." He was WRONG. End of story – shut up. Sloppy, careless daydreaming cost him his wicket. "Letter of the law" – as in the Starc catch 24 hours earlier – cuts both ways. Imbeciles who booed and carried on have short memories. Stokes played an innings for the ages but should watch how Pat Cummins conducts himself in a press conference and learn. Some English players and fans need to get some character, preferably before the next test!
Stokes won the respect of a lot of Aussie supporters with his brilliant final innings knock … then showed up for the post-match press conference and threw it all away.
If i was English id be embarrassed. The media are sooks and the captain is playing the victim.
Bairstow tried to do the EXACT same thing to Marnus
Playing the victim to distract from a heavy loss.
Instead of making excuses as too what you would do and how you wouldnt want to win a game taking a wicket like that. However you were only 5 down before bairstow was not aware of being in his crease untill over is called 46 runs and four wickets say your reasons are not relevant. I must admit you played extremly well for your 155 runs without your stellar innings your team would have lost by a margin. Lets call a spade a spade 2-0 down Australia are in controll and 3-2 is a huge call good luck ben and England. And Australia have always been booed and abused by the barmy army. It just helps Australia to knuckle down and do their best. Australia's bowling was poor for most of the 5th day in play..
The team that lost the toss, got the worst of the weather conditions and lost their world class spinner didn't win fairly because they refused to umpire themselves.
my opinion of Ben Stokes has changed after listening to his responses, he is all class.
Ben Stokes having a massive dummy spit here. It is embarrassing really his attitude and particularly its focus but I think the press is stirring the pot for the 3rd Test, and Stokes was an easy target on the basis of his issue with the dismissal.
Same old England, always losing hahaha
The ball hadn't even hit the keepers gloves when he started walking … he couldn't be more out than being out, it's as simple as that.
This talk of cheating is utter garbage and those snowflakes who argue differently need to pull there heads in and take a serious look at the game.
“Can’t remember” doing the same thing earlier ourselves. Hahaha 12:06
No he would not have withdrawn it , Carey threw the ball before Bairstow left his ground
No it wasn’t an incredible game…quite one sided..apart from the drunkard lordss crowd..but hey
Australia won as per the rules…Stop moaning and accept…Spirit of the game ❤
Karma
Carey threw the ball immediately, therefore it's within the spirit of the game, as well as the laws. No reason for England to complain, and I'm an England fan myself.
I respected Stokes until this. You grub
British hypocrisy. Bairstow tried but failed to get Labuschagne out in exactly the same was days earlier.
Stokes is sanctimonious.
It was a F**** Disgrace. One that hundreds of millions of cricket loving players and supporters viewed on their Television screens. An Ashes Test match that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons for generations to come.
Bairstow was out—because the umpire gave it out. Pretty simple. And it doesn’t matter what anyone THINKS, it’s already happened. Just like Duckett wasn’t out caught by Starc. Check the scorecard if you’re confused. As it turns out the entire English side is out, not just Barstow.
“Spirit of the game”… a “gentleman’s sport”… Arguments by the country that created the Bodyline series, an act of sporting bastardry that “played by the rules” but violated “the spirit of the game” so egregiously the rules had to be changed so the English were compelled to play “in the spirit of the game” like “gentlemen”.
If Carey's throw missed the stumps and it went to the boundary, it would be overthrows. I can assure you that England would not be asking the umpires to remove the runs from their score.
Stokes deserves player of the match. Very backward and old school ruling that it always has to go to a winning team player, what he did was special regardless of win or lose
What a title for a video! Makes it seems like Stokes appreciates what Australia did. You were caught using the paper once, who knows how many test matches that had been going on for. Aus be like: Everything is fair in love and cricket
