So the old sugar cane plantation fires were way worse. Those too young to remember before you got your sugar from beets, it came from tall grass. They grew it for two seasons until it was 12 feet tall. Razor sharp and so thick only snakes and rats would go in it. So they would burn it to harvest. They went around the edges and then let it burn toward the middle. The old fields were sometimes in square miles. When they got out of control, places like Lahaina were threatened with fire. Or choked with thick smoke. They put houses in the old plantations. What, is it dry and prone to fires?
