Both Republicans and Democrats agree that what happened on Jan 6 was deplorable, and those who went into the Capitol should all be prosecuted. But it's clear that this investigation will not end any time soon. This is a committee made up of 7 Democrats, and in an unprecedented move, Democrats rejected the lone Republicans chosen to be a part of the committee – giving this committee no credibility as a "bi-partisan 911 style committee."
This committee will continue to search out anything they can use as political weapons. But anything related to a Democrat such as Nancy Pelosi, was off limits from the start.
The first question I asked as this event was going on is HOW are all these unarmed rioters breaching what should be one of the most secure buildings in the world?? They KNEW that there were going to be over 100,000 angry people at the Trump rally. Why wouldn't they have added security? That's a very valid question. And why wouldn't they be hitting the people with water hoses and tear gas as they started to enter the property to keep them out? Why weren't they firing warning shots? And then I asked…. why are security guards letting them climb the walls? And afterwards, why is Security opening the door and leading them in? I asked "Who was responsible for Security there??? This shouldn't be possible!" Clearly those questions should be a MAJOR FOCUS, because ultimately this riot should NOT have ever happened, and should have been stopped in its tracks. But I don't expect these questions to ever be answered by the committee, or even seriously addressed. That's not part of the narrative, and could damage those who are asking the questions.

Members of Congress have spoken about how terrified they were on the 6th. These same are called public servants, the most powerful of public servants in the nation. They hold within their possession the vote to send soldiers off to war. That’s a lot of power for members who feared for their lives on the 6th of January 2021 but shed no known tears for those dying on the streets of riot tossed cities in 2020. Democracy is rule by the majority and if that is what they want in America then cities lost their democracy to a minority group intent on rioting. Attorney Samuel Shamansky on Friday submitted court filings on behalf of his client, Jan. 6 defendant Dustin Thompson, asking for a judge to allow them to subpoena Trump and others to testify as witnesses in Thompson's trial.
"Defendant submits that the individuals he seeks to subpoena are in exclusive possession of information relevant to this case. Moreover, their testimony is necessary to ensure that Defendant's constitutional right to present a complete defense is safeguarded," according to the court filings.
"It is anticipated that, when called as a witness, Donald J. Trump will testify that he and others orchestrated a carefully crafted plot to call into question the integrity of the 2020 presidential election and the validity of President Biden's victory," the filings add. "Moreover, it will be established at trial that Mr. Trump and his conspirators engaged in a concerted effort to deceive the public, including Defendant, into believing that American democracy was at stake if Congress was permitted to certify the election results."
court filings indicate that if Trump and others were compelled to testify in Thompson's trial, their testimony would show that they had wanted to prevent Congress from certifying the 2020 presidential election results.
"Defendant submits that the testimony of Mr. Trump and his conspirators will establish that they were determined, by any means necessary, to prevent Congress from fulfilling its constitutional mandate to certify the election results," the court filings said. "In order to accomplish that goal, the conspirators Defendant now seeks to subpoena engaged in a concerted effort to organize, encourage, and direct rally participants to storm the Capitol, enter the grounds, 'fight like hell,' and 'engage in trial by combat."
Shamansky said some of the other witnesses they would like to subpoena include former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon, conservative lawyer John Eastman, pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell and Donald Trump Jr.
