John Glenn, the first American to orbit Earth, joined “Meet the Press” on April 21, 1963 to discuss NASA’s plan to land an astronaut on the moon. Congress held federal budget hearings which questioned the future and funding for the moon exploration program and Glenn was an avid supporter of sending Americans to the moon.
