Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers are pushing back against the March 2024 trial date set by Judge Chutkan in the former president’s election conspiracy case, claiming it is too soon to properly prepare for, but former Lead Investigator for the January 6th Committee Tim Heaphy says Chutkan is likely to remain firm on the date. “She will be resistant to anything that is designed to delay,” Heaphy said.

The 6th Amendment provides the right to a speedy trial for a defendant; not for the government. In any case, the Federal government has already shown it is not interested in justice, as nearly all the Jan 6 defendants were denied a speedy trial. They are only interested in impeding the ability of the leading Republican candidate to run a campaign. That is why the trial is set for the day before Super Tuesday. The fact that AG Barr and judicial review in 60 cases had already directly informed Meadows and Trump that all claimed defects in the election were baseless, precluded any legitimate White House role in efforts to reverse the CERTIFIED Georgia election with its valid presidential electors. The subsequent multiple acts of intimidation, extortion and fraud that Meadows and Trump perpetrated upon Georgia’s election workers, election officials, Governor, legislators and voters were prohibited by state and federal law and therefore well beyond any possible Executive Branch duties.
