The affidavit needs to stay sealed in order to protect the witnesses and the case. Having it opened just proves the judge is either gotten bought off or is afraid of what Trump will do to him. Given his BAD HISTORY of interfering with witnesses, the names of the potential witnesses, identify of the feds and investigative steps, should be redacted, until the whole investigations are completed.
The judge's decision is an attempt to placate both sides, but leaves the upper hand to the DOJ. It also gives the DOJ more time to commit to the investigation. There's no question of Trump's criminality, it's just to find out how much damage he's done to the country's security.
