He would have subjected all 330 million of us to a Trump dictatorship, a regime which could only hold on to its illegitimate power through a reign of terror. A reign of terror that would inevitably and necessarily have included disappearances, torture and murder of thousands if not millions of Americans. Under the circumstances, I submit that our usual understanding of what constitutes "cruel and unusual punishment" should not apply. It would be neither cruel nor unusual for such a traitor to suffer the same Medieval punishments he had in store for us. Medieval punishment for a Medieval traitor. In fourteenth century England, this would have entailed being bound by the feet to a team of horses and drawn naked through the streets to the place of execution, then being hung long enough for partial strangulation, then castration and disembowelment with his genitals and intestines burned before his dying eyes. Then his head would be cut off and his body cut into four quarters, all for public display in the capital and in the four corners of the realm. Doesn't sound unconstitutionally cruel and unusual to me, especially in view of a Supreme Court that bases its current decisions on the precedents of 17th century witch trials.
