College is an industry…big business and not worth it unless you're in the STEM fields. Most of their degrees are absolutely worthless and just feeds the industry. We need more people going into TRADE schools for electricians, carpenters, HVAC, plumbers etc.

i started a carpet cleaning business and i make around 100$ per hour, i took a 5 day course on chemicals to use on different types of carpet and that was it. my equipment is expensive but i buy it as needed. been in business 12 years now. million dollar business now, 0 debt. college is good for some, but its not the only way.

I went to college, had a blast, paid it off myself, no big deal. Also I make good money now. Go to college, study a serious STEM major, and remember to have fun.

I was ranting about this exact subject 10 years ago to my parents at the age of 18.
They so desperately wanted me to go to college; got accepted to OSU and Kent just to humor them. Then I discovered that the burden of debt was in the $80k to $90k range. I told them I wouldn't do it and would rather seek out Community if I was inclined.
Ended up going to Community College for several years and got an Associate Degree (which I don't use). BUT, I ended up getting FedEx to reimburse all $10,000 of my college tuition.
Now, as an married man with a home; it boggles my mind to see the tuition/college crisis play out further (just as I had predicted). Yet my parents still pushed my little sister to get into college. She's now stuck in a 6 year bachelor's degree (due to program curriculum) and will be paying some $130,000 for her degree. It got to the point that both my parents and sister stopped talking about it and I stopped caring.
You can only help people so much that are on a collision course with their own arrogance.

I sifted through the job listings back in 2021 and found that for any Interior Designer position (most of which are located in Floria, NY, California etc) had an applicant list of 200-3000 people.

I loaned friends of mine money for spring break trips when we were in college until their student loans would “come through.”
I should have just forgiven them, but I couldn’t afford it. I made a good money filling in for them at their jobs (especially as a bartender) when they were in Mexico.
I did not even charge interest. They are paying plenty of interest on everything they “own” right now. They drive fantastic cars and live in huge homes even though we all make about the same salary.

The way i look at it is how much money does the government give out to other countries, that amount to pay off student loans would be peck wages compared to how much they waste elsewhere. Look at the cost of housing the illegals , giving them money to spend, it is all a scam to screw the american people. Pay off the loans would be a (good) thing. shut down the colleges and ad another two years onto high school. it has been said four years of college is nothing more then four more years of high school at a huge price.
It makes a HUUGE difference depending on what you plan to study. I remember seriously questioning the value of college about a year or two post graduation and working.
