Predominantly Black and Brown neighborhoods in and around New Orleans are still reeling from the impact of massive hurricanes, like Ida and Katrina. Many of these communities are also impacted by the unequal burden of toxic pollution.
In this series, sponsored by, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Maya Eaglin explores how Indigenous, Black, and Brown communities are fighting to save their land, homes, and resources, while simultaneously waging a war against the harmful effects of climate change and environmental racism.

They could just turn their houses into floating homes and use boats to get around
We’re still recovering in lake Charles from hurricane Laura
💯💯💯…Mossville near Sulphur and Westlake Louisiana is nearly gone due to the chemical refineries…Hackberry and Cameron also.
Excellent segment. Is there a way to subscribe to #ChangingTheNarrative specifically? The NBC News channel here has a lot of content to sift through and this looks like it's shaping up to be a valuable series within your programming. At the very least, make sure #ChangingTheNarrative is a hash tag in the description, so it can be found.
So important to hear!🥺
No matter the stock market crash one needs to have different portfolio, I already invested in Forex and Crypto which are really profitable
This is an amazing series. Great reporting…
Guess they should do something about it and move to a better place to live like countless groups of less fortunate and underprivileged people throughout human history have. No? Rather cry victim and look for handouts and wonder why nothing changes? Got it.
What's bipoc? Bisexual piece of crap?
Loved the thrill of hurricane season while living in Lafayette, the thrill of tornado season living in Wichita Falls, the thrill of haboob season living in Midland, the thrill of blizzard season living in Colorado Springs, and the thrill of monsoon season living in Santa Fe. Roam the world and feel the thrill instead of dreading all of its storms.
Okay, so what are weee suppose do about it? Its great info in this documentary, but we cant do anything.
It’s not climate change it’s how we use the Mississippi River. Cocodrie is going nowhere the coastline is actually expanding there. But St Bernard parish Plaquemines parish parts of Lafouchre, those are where the receding coastline is happening. And it’s because of the amount of waste water we pump into the river from Minnesota down to the gulf. It’s essential for cheap produce and utilities. So if we wanna restore the coast we gotta be honest and tell people what it will cost them. Save the coast but now corn related products (almost everything) are gonna be more expensive.
Well what do you expect flat wet land but yet let’s build a house it should be alright gotta love US codes
Who cares. This is like 0.01% of the houses in the US. Just go inland!!
The term BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) is erasure. The attempt to put very different races, ethnicities, non-immigrant, immigrant, & illegal immigrant into one category is WRONG! Were all of these people kidnapped from Africa, brought to the US 🇺🇲, enslaved for centuries, bred, their forced & stolen labor used to build the wealth of the US 🇺🇲, with continued oppression beyond the same as people (many with education & wealth) who came to the US 🇺🇲 because they chose to for the American dream? These other groups co-opt& hijack & steal the trials, tribulations, sojourn & Civil Rights Movement of American Descendants of Slavery & pretend we've all fought, suffered the same & are all on the same level playing field. NO! STOP CONFLATING. WE ARE NOT THE SAME!
Good riddance
Yes, only non-white people live on coasts………
What gets me is how many people will dismiss this. They really believe all these scholars journalists and scientists have made it their life's work to deceive them. That's a level of paranoia that's sad.
I am from Shreveport in Louisiana … Excellent show
NBC is complicit in all the genocide
Co2 is not bad for you
Globalist serpent puppeteers make their own global warming with HAARP technology proving climate change and NBC are corporate beast system frauds
BIPOC? .. they making up new acronyms everyday it seems.
Millions of years of dinosaurs poop hundreds of volcanos the entire crust of the earth sliding on the mantle. Im glad humans are here to whine just hope their not soon only have but themselves and whatever they believe in to hear them.
Should cover how illegal immigration is going to impact where and how people will live
Geez! Just make with the mangroves already.
The earlier we take actions against climate change, the better it is for our planet. Its Louisiana today, it could be your state next
CLIMATE + The New World !..
