Cool…'bout time.
If we can save the fish for the native Americans it would be worth all the surrounding forests to burn up for lack of water to fight the fires.? Sometimes the end just don't justify the means. Repercussions are many.
I remember back in 2000 driving up to Requa along the north shore of Klamath River mouth is the smell of smoked salmon wafting from locals houses. Kept the car window down to enjoy it!
Only around 5% of all dams in the US actually create electricity
Native Americans weren't fat
š š¤š
Bout goddamn time
Beautiful, return to mother nature.
Indians did not get to vote until 1924. Blacks voted in 1866.
Of course it WON'T help the rest of the State's water needs ! Note The Brown Administration and The ECO DEMO FREAKS have already y blown up dam's along the Klamath/Trinity river system The FALSE CLAIMS by the leftist lunatics about reducing river water temperatures in the river's with the dam demolition's has proven FALSE and nothing more than a DemoCrap Government LIE ! The other thing that proved out was that there was less water access to fight Forest Fires and thus larger area's 'BURNED' ! Great Job DemoCraps. Great Job !
Overall Now the Socio-Fasists want to destroy the Larger Dams !
mother nature will take care of everything. some tribes used tents because they had to travel to where the food was, where the resources grew and the game were more plentiful. they no longer are here. government took them out. i think we should all get a good government job then we know we are eating good.
God Bless, stay true to your people!
I forgot to congratulate the tribe . Salmon is delicious.
Dams arenāt built to kill fish. Theyāre built to protect people and property against flooding. Provide consistent water supply as well as zero carbon electricity. The reservoirs provide habitat for vast numbers of fish, birds and other wildlife. Also recreational economic development for the surrounding population. This is a clear case of thinking with the heart instead of the brain. In an objective cost benefit analysis dams win.
Why don't we focus on the Salmon's food first why don't we get rid of Herring fishing their main food source and fix the chemical in the tire problem that will have a bigger impact
Energy prices will sky rocket. I pray there are no blackouts throughout the winter. Keep voting democrat. We never learn & deserve everything we get.
our wonderful economic policies have all but killed the Chesapeake bay and puget sound and so many dead zones in the Gulf of Mexico . hope that they can get this right and restore just a few rivers for all the destruction that has been done to what was once long ago
Molly Steel is on some kind of intoxicant; Molly Steel is quite possibly drunk. All Molly Steel's li'l lnjuns look different. I don't see a chief in the squaw's teepee, I bet many of the tribe beat path to squaw canyon gash's wompom.
The dams arenāt the problem!! Itās the over fishing everywhere, part of a natural evolution. Why have the salmon and chinook runs decreased so much in coastal rivers also. There are many of those rivers that have never had dams and their runs are diminishing also.
I suspect the age of these dams is a major driver, but it is so nice to see Native Americans listened to. I not unsympathetic, but fire risks and property values are coming back to the builders of these things. As for water shortages like in the Colorado Basin, roughly 70% of that is agriculture and a good percentage of that goes to China. We are basically destroying our ecology over agricultural over production.
Without the dam, how do they irrigate for crops? How do they provide drinking water? How do they control the river when flooding?
Love how the white politician only worries about the white areas, and describes exactly what they've done to the indigenous peoples for generations.
What will replace the green energy produced by those dam? Chinese coal plants?
Moral of the story? Renewables such as hydroelectric, are incredibly wasteful and damaging for the environment.
OMG what a victory, not just for the tribe but for earth. It is damming that has destroyed so much land. Congratulations to the tribe!
I just found out boarding schools is why I don't know my native language…..
About dam time
If the "tribes" would stop wholesale netting the salmon by the thousands, there wouldn't be such a "problem."
"Could" means "we don't actually know if the taxpayer money spent to destroy the dam will solve the problem, but at least we feel better about ourselves."
REMOVE TRHOSE DAMS!!! #Elwha
Good for them! šGotta stand up for what you believe in.
The tribe had to adapt to the destruction of the river and the endangering of the salmon; therefore, the others need to adapt to living without the water reservoirs. You build in a fire prone area, then adjust your building codes and stop building with wood or donāt rebuild after the fires destroy the entire town.
