I'd have been fine with some tax breaks or even credits to help get new plants going, but we should have either put something in the deal to make them reduce their ties to china in the process. So… we can't imitate policies from the country that has captured pretty much the whole worldwide industrial sector market share?? A country that went from being dirt poor 2 decades ago to being on the verge of putting our huge economy on the graveyard. Look man…I am all about the capitalism, free markets, and the 💰…but now I say, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!!! Global corporations and investors can't have it both ways. They have made huge stashes of greens off-shoring to cheaper China while promoting "free trade". Them mofos took our whole economy and shipped it to a country that apparently we shouldn't copy because it would be anti-dogmatic to "our American ways"…come on, stop the nonsense, if what they are doing over there was that horrible their economy wouldn't be anywhere the size it is, our major american corporations wouldn't be producing in their soil, and they wouldn't be dominating future technologies like AI, 5G, biotechnology, etc.
Instead of trying to tell us that paying to re-shore those companies and technologies would be a bad idea because it violates and rapes our free-trade sacred scriptures, he should tell us why in the world would we set up our biggest corporations in what appears to be enemy soil in the first place, giving the Chinese a chance to steal all that technology in record time. What good has it done? Don't tell me we sold our future for some cheap toys and TV's…but yeah, we all know that is exactly what we did. I am no fan of Biden and his nonsense, but this CHIPS bill and every single anti-china bill has to be done…for too long we have let the Chinese suck our economy dry while they take over the world.
We need to stop grouping good economic policy like "free markets" and "limited government", with bad policy like the nonsense that was globalization and it's no-strings-attached free-trade and don't even get me started with the MMT crazies that got us into this inflationary mess.
