What a bunch of bullshit. Highschool Kids only need 6 hours of school. 9 to 3. Just the academics. If the kid wants extra stuff like sports or vocational then let them but before or after school or weekends.
Or! Parents do their fucking jobs and make their kids sleep on time. These days parents are trash and let their kids stay up to 1 to 2 am

At my old school every Wednesday only kids with bad grades had to go to school at the same time but those with decent or better grades got to go 1 hour later
School should start at 8 am. The Elementary schools have the right time. A 9 am start is way too late. 8 am for all schools is ideal.
There's also the safety factor of not having kids standing outside waiting for buses in the dark when school starts way too early, some kids are walking alone to a bus stop making them easy targets for predators… it's not like they aren't on a regular schedule where someone could figure out their schedule to figure out when and where to grab them. Schools really need to stop having buses pick kids up in the dark when they are even more vulnerable to predators.

The big issue of start times is about after school extra curricular activities too. Practices etc.

Seems dumb. The rest of the world doesn't need to start late to perform well academically. This will just make kids stay up later and get into more trouble at night.
If they leave their phones alone and sleep by 8pm they will be ready to go at 5am.
