But those in the cockpit say they’re forced to retire once they turn 65 years old due to what some say is an arbitrary rule. Now lawmakers are working to change that, but critics say raising the retirement age could jeopardize aviation safety.

No 65 is almost too old honestly. Sure these pilot's would love to keep flying but I think it's a bad idea. Becoming a pilot is prohibitively expensive also many people just don't have the chops to be a pilot.

Stop lying to people. We have a shortage of pilots because the government is forcing vaccines on people that don’t need them. So the pilots are retiring instead of getting vaccinated

We need to create passenger drones for future air travel, airplane requirements is to exaggerated and becoming a pilot is too expensive, and airlines are not making a call to train people who are interested in becoming a pilot with a platform of train now with us Airline X and pay your studies after graduation and with your first job assignment so pilot shortage is blamed on the airline companies, for not creating a platform and a program to hire people and start an immediate hirring process with training included and once that candidate is ready, certified and screened to fly than a deduction from it's pay check of earnings can be arranged as a form of payments to that airline company for trainning , so I hope one day some one creates drones instead and airlines become a desire of the past least expected to be used because most people will definitely buy a flying drone for travelling instead of always being dependent on plane travel.

Insurance actuarial tables determine when pilots must retire, not age or ability. Companies won't risk their $50,000,000 planes to an increased risk of pilot stroke or heart attack.
