Legendary Brazilian soccer player Pelé dies at 82



Pele, the transcendent Brazilian midfielder who won three World Cups and became the face of the “beautiful game,” has died at the age of 82. USA Today’s Christine Brennan reflects on his life and his legacy.

  6. As a child I loved and played soccer, but being a young black boy playing soccer in the south was not considered cool especially when Football was everything. I used to read books on Pele to inspire me to play through all the teasing. Thank you, Pelé.

  7. Pelé was great as a player, but he had a historic of being not so nice with people around him, including his teamates, like Jair and Gérson who weren't even included in his "FIFA 100", and his daughter
