Motive under investigation? This is the age of grudge and revenge. Everyone from a 6 year elementary school kid to a former president feels totally justified in exacting pain and violence on those they hold responsible for their personal angst and hurt. Coming from a European, I feel like I am watching an apocalyptic, dystopian movie whenever I'm watching American news. You clearly, without any doubt, have to ban all weapons and never make them accessible to the public ever again. For God's sake, it's that easy. I do not understand how this has been going on for so long and no president, no politician and no party has ever shown enough backbone to stop this. If this continues, American society will experience a long-term traumatization and it will backfire to the government in many ways
