This is OUTRAGEOUS!!!. There is no justice in this world. Get rid of Newsom he's disgusting!
For those of you who weren’t alive during the 1960’s, you really can’t appreciate what was happening in U.S. society then. Amazing time to be alive! There WAS a counterculture, and there were many communes. Unfortunately, Leslie got hooked up with Manson. Tex Watson and Patricia Krenwinkel will never get out of prison, Bruce Davis might get out eventually. I recommend Tom O’Neill’s book about the case, “Chaos.” The “official” story is not all it’s cracked up to be. The authorities could’ve stopped Manson but didn’t. Vincent Bugliosi was no saint!

Steve "Clem" Grogan got a parole a long time ago. Wasn't involved with the Tate-Labianca (he rode along the second night, after they dropped off the LaBianca murderers, the rest left in the car were supposed to go murder an actor named Saladin Nader but Kasabian pretended she couldn't find the house) murders but with the murder of a ranchhand and part-time actor named "Shorty" Donald Shea. Good ol' Clem got his parole in 1985 for revealing where they buried Shea's body.
She served her time. Let her out. So the public should be glad that she was even charged and not let off for insanity. Unlike Emmit Till's evil murderers and the many other unarmed minorities that are getting murdered by the police thats caught on video. Their families get to watch their killers get off the hook with NO CONSEQUENCES, while their deadly departed loved ones are blamed for their own deaths.

53 years is not enough for that many murders! She lied, and even celebrated the deaths. She laughed and was singing in court. Time causes people to ease up… and forget how horrific it really was! Wasn't the Manson cult trying to destroy the country by starting a race-war, staging these killings to look like black people did it? The families don't want her out. The courts and prosecutors don't care because it doesn't affect their paychecks. Wow. She went from the death penalty, to now being set free!

Wonder what you have to actually do to receive life in prison in the state of California? Stabbing to death someone 14 times obviously isn't enough. One would think that a death penalty case reduced to life in prison would mean just that – LIFE. But, it's California.

Those girls were brainwashed by Manson. You people need to learn forgiveness. 54 years is a lifetime behind bars. She has paid the price. She has more than served her time. Most of you probably weren't even born when she committed her crime. Let her now enjoy her few remaining years in peace.
Some commenters do not seem to understand that governors do not have unlimited powers and that there is a system on checks and balances with what they (or any politician) can do. Newsom denied the parole board's ruling and his decision was overturned by the court of appeals. Taking it up with the Supreme Court would have been an excercise in futility.

Leno and Rosemary will never come up for parole. Not to mention the bad consequences this could have on the family of the victims: if I were them I would have constant panic attacks knowing she's out of prison, even if she were "a new woman". They could feel haunted and in danger and relive the trauma even more.
