New Delhi is entering day four of a massive landfill fire that is shrouding the northern part of the city in smoke, classifying the air quality as “very poor.” No deaths or injuries have been reported from the fire itself as firefighters are working to contain the flames during a brutal heat wave across India.

Landfill fires go for decades. You can't put them out, only cover them.

India does not care about the health of it's people. The large cities in India are big, giant garbage dumps. The government never has and never will do anything about this . Over the many, many decades this has been a problem and will be forever. They can't even report the air quality correctly.
Then there are Africans who burn our unwanted clothing items, then there are those that insist on cutting down whole forests to make charcoal. Then I drive less than 400 miles a year. Why should I try to keep the air cleaner?

years ago I worked at a boston area landfill as an outside contractor for about a week . The onsite landfill manager told me it was a constant battle to keep up with underground landfill fires. He said they started as a result of spontaneous combustion from chemicals which probably shouldn't be in the landfill mix together. He had a big excavator he would move to the smoke rising, dig a hole and pour water down the hole and hopefully fire would go out.
Amazing and they support PUTIN !
Hopefully it will burn down some of those state sanctioned "internet scam centers" and spare the rest of those people…
