1- The Speaker of the House is exercising his right to name members to key committees of the Congress. The Minority Leader is usually allowed "free reign" when it comes to committee assignments. However, there are exceptions to this rule and The Speaker explained, why he felt that those members shouldn't be on those panels.
2-He is following the precedent used by Pelosi in the previous Congress. If the issue is put to a vote, McCarthy feels comfortable knowing that he'll have a majority of the entire House to support him.
3-However, McCarthy did NOT suggest throwing them out of ALL committees. Democratic Members of Congress were not rejected from standing committees of Congress based on how they might feel about him on a personal or professional basis. Pelosi threw several Republicans out of all of their committees..but Kevin McCarthy did not.
4-The Speaker told the press his side of the story. That's his story and he's sticking to it.
