Why do people care about his tax returns so much? Or any President for that matter. Doesn't make sense and isn't necessary. Maybe have the IRS do an investigation for tax fraud or other issues but there's no need for them to be public.

Solve this problem. Repeal the 16th Amendment.
The 16th Amendment stole the sovereignty and privacy of every Citizen and gave it all to the government which has reached the point where it perpetuates itself without any real public oversight. They obviously now think that we work for them and they have no hesitation to use all of the power that we've loaned them to act against us for their advantage. They even make things up just for this purpose.
The income tax code has become far more of a Citizen control tool and a political weapon than it hass ever been a revenue producer. Nobody can ever know what's in it. Chances are that only a handful of people, if anybody, has ever read the whole thing. Surely, even if anyone tried to complete this task on their own, it would be changed before they got through it all.
Repealing the 16th Amendment would fix a lot of problems with our political system and make life far better and easier for everyone. Our entire Constitutional government could easily perform all of its duties with an import tax. If necessary, a very small consumption or "Fair" tax could be instituted. But, if one is needed, it should also require a 2/3rds majority in the House and the Senate to increase it.
Perhaps increases could be allowed in times of war, but that seems to simply motivate the House and Senate to go to war.
Maybe, only in times of invasion. But, even with that, we can all see that they are inviting invaders into our country by the millions already.
So, we probably need to make the restriction something they care about. (With rare exception, it's obvious that they don't care about us at all.) The provision would be that if the tax is increased, such a Bill would be accepted as their resignations and they, along with their families and business partners, would be subject to being fully investigated unless they joined in the efforts to repel the invaders in a front line combat position.
