This is a classic case where the person having the episode will stare blankly into the distance as we saw in this case. There are many causes for this.

Seems like this was an episode of TIA from possible Atherosclerosis with plaques in the arteries going to the brain! Very common amongst the elderly who have been eating the usual American diet.
There are Doctors like Caldwell Esselstyn Dean Ornish and Dr Mcdougall etc etc who advocate very strict vegan diet for reversal of atherosclerosis.
Reversal is possible.
But strict diet and no cigarettes.
