For a dozen years now, 94-year-old Buddy Grover has donned his light keeper’s cap and coat to climb the stairs of the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey. Buddy greets his visitors at the lighthouse with tales of the tower’s historic past. He says his time in the Marine Corps and decades as a letter carrier prepared him for this position.

As a Coast Guard Aviation Veteran and since all lighthouses are under the control and maintenance of the U.S. Coast Guard I hope the Coast Guard has designated Harry as an honorary Coast Guard Auxiliary member.
He definitely deserves to be.
We used to use Lighthouses as a navigation guide on night rescue missions and training flight missions up at Airsration Traverse City Michigan and at Airstation Miami Florida.

Hope Buddy has his mobility and independence to the end. My grandfather (who passed at 95 after hitting his head) was active like him and I know how important it was for his quality of life.
Imagine being that fit at 94 that you can climb 200 something stairs. I love lighthouses, that would be a cool job and you get a workout in everyday.
