Call, Tweet, email ur representatives and Biden. Tell them no cuts to M&L class programs. If the gop wants to default, Dems need to get out of the way and let them do it. If Biden/Dems give the gop cuts to M&L class programs, we will have to relive this every time there’s a Dem in the WH. The gop doesn’t care about the national debt. They r simply wanting to do what they have been doing which is to restrict Dems from spending any money on the policies they care about and inflict pain on the M&L classes so the gop can blame Biden/dem policies to con voters into voting for the gop. While defaulting will be painful, at least it will be painful for all of America and not just the M&L classes. Furthermore, to really return a more fair and equitable economy, low income and wealth inequality, move from the oligarchy we r now back to a “representative democracy”, to the vast majority of the population in the M class, labor unions, fair wages/lower cost of living, break up the monopolies/oligopolies, the M class dream, maintain the dominate superpower and world leader, reduce all the societal ills, regain our strength and unity as a nation, pass a new immigration bill, deal w/climate change, affordable/nonprofit healthcare, public ally funded day care/pre-k and college/tech school, generous GI bill, make the wealthy/corporations pay their fair share of taxes, return to a progressive tax code, get the big/dark money out of politics and reduce political corruption, expand the judiciary, impeach the judges who shouldn’t be in the judiciary, set term limits for congress and judiciary, get fair election laws, etc, it’s likely going to take a very painful event. It’s that pain that wakes ppl up and motivates them to act. (This is why even as a progressive, I believe most migrants should stay in their home countries, band together, and do whatever they need to take control of their country, voting, civil war, revolution, etc, to improve their country for themselves and those who will come after them and the US government should accept only those we need, when our government decides we need them.) Last time the gop dominated all levels of government, including the judiciary, most of the time, at least 1880-1932, we saw the same outcomes we see today. The gop policies shifted so much income, wealth, and power up to the upper class/corporations that the economy collapsed, 1929 Great Depression. That pain motivated voters to vote for FDR, a far-left Dem, in a landslide and give Dems the majority in all levels of government, excluding the judiciary, most of the time from 1933-1979. It’s those far-left Dem progressive policies, the same policies that the far-left Dems support today, that lead to the M class dream, the great economy, the largest M class in the world at that time, the low income and wealth inequality, democracy vs oligarchy, the well funded government (national debt near zero after the first few decades, Great Depression, WWII, and investments in America/especially the M&L classes), we had by the 1950/1960’s. Learn from our history. No significant changes will occur while we r divided as a country and electing a divided government w/small margins. We will stay on Reagan’s, a far-right Republican (what was far-right then, which is more like gop establishment today) policies, the last landslide election, until the voters elect a far-left Dem in a landslide and show a clear swing to the far-left/left in all other levels of government. We can bring back the M class dream if enough voters join together and repeat what our ancestors did!!
