He makes up this mythical man, let me give you my example and others I knew of when workfare was introduced in 1996. We were about 18, in college, on public assistance because our parents were. So when this program hit, it meant we couldn't focus on college.
I was able to finish college and have worked without a break (no unemployment) for over twenty years since.
Had the program interrupted me enough, there's no way I'd be paying the taxes I am paying now. This program is a net loss, the point isn't to save a buck, because it doesn't, the country maybe saves a dollar and loses two in taxes, if that's your goal.

I agree with the Congress woman. Everyone saying it’s a great deal yet and still we are still denying food from those who need it. We not talking about a 27 yr old man not working but those over 49 who may have Health issues that are already being denied benefits such as disability for qualified illness Adding to the already systemic racism! Biden said he wouldn’t negotiate! He should not have negotiated!!! BS WE would already had to do the budget! Save money on all this money going into the war in Ukraine and take care of America!

Do any of those people in Washington know how hard it is to get disabled status? Even if you are disable, you need to fill out reams of paperwork, get multiple doctors to agree to a diagnosis, and then you still might get rejected because you didn't dot an i on one of the papers. The average person spends less than three years on Welfare and the majority are White. These Republicans who scream about 'Welfare Queens' have never held a bluecollar job in their lives and don't have a clue about managing a budget and feeding a family. They all need a crash course in reality and then, maybe, they might have a clue.

Work requirements are a tool for employers to allow them to pay below a living wage. When work requirements are in place, workers are forced to take whatever job is available. Once employed, that worker has no time available to find a job either more appropriate to his/her skills or better paid. It is purely a trap to keep pay low.
This a good start for Americans . Both parties need to agree on this. They need to wipe out bad credit to have more spending for americans.
The debt ceiling did not require any concessions to increase; all due to Republicans!
If one or any side is completely happy with a Deal, then by definition it's a bad deal.
