Gun manufacturers don't apologize when their product is used to unalive kids. So why would facebook apologize for something like this?
It seems the same matter as Nobel's dynamite. He invented dynamite to help constructuon worker, but people got it to use for war. Is Social Network abused by people Mark Zukerberg's fault? Is not US government? If they gave them the right to collect users' personal information enough to chase abusers, did it really happen? This is a disgusting and gross political show which politicians and US people abondoned their fault.

Maybe parents shouldn’t rely on social media to raise their children
Some schools insist your kids have phones and computers. Some of these apps claim they block predators but they don't. Too many of these kids thought they were talking to a kid but they were talking to an adult predator. Many of the apps claim they were safe but they really weren't. Should a child be on social media? The answer is NO, but Mark was targeting children with his products claiming it was safe. Parents need to STOP BEING THE TRUSTING consumers of all the latest gadgets.
