Meta, Instagram launch Threads as possible Twitter rival | USA TODAY



Meta launched Threads, a social media platform that is like a text-based version of Instagram. Meta acquired Instagram in 2012.

Threads is essentially a text-based version of Instagram. It uses your Instagram username and automatically follows the same people you already follow on your Instagram account. You can customize your profile for Threads.

You log in using your Instagram account. Posts can be up to 500 characters long and can include links, photos and videos up to 5 minutes in length.
