You were very clear thatvyou have the option to not allow ___ to return in the fall because teachers think I'm a "watchdog" and "fear for their jobs." We'd like you to put I writing the reason you are dismissing our family from USM after you promised to hold a seat for____ in 6th grade.

Thank you for your message. As you know, USM views the parents of Its students to be vital partners in the school's mission to provide an exceptional education to its students and ensure a positive learning environment. While USM is committed to seeking, valuing, and listening to parents' perspectives and concerns regarding their children and the school, in turn it expects parents to respect the expertise and professionalism of the schools faculty and administrators, and staff and seek collaborative solutions to problems. So too, USM expects all members of its community, including parents, to relate to one another with respect, trust, honesty, fairness, and kindness.
Unfortunately, over the course of this school year, you have not fulfilled the foregoing commitments as a partner to USM and its MIDDLE SCHOOL teachers and administrators.
Despite our continued efforts and requests, you continue to directly engage with USMs 5th grade teachers and administrators in a manner that is not consistent with the school's Common Trust and Core Values—- including numerous emails, texts, and conversations that are disrespectful and deflating. These communications not only demonstrate a breakdown in your trust of and respect for USMs Middle School educators, but have also adversely impacted the Middle School educational environment, including the ability of our teachers and administrators to successfully provide vital services to our schools.
As provided in our handbook:
The operation and administration of U of Ms is predicated upon the mutual cooperation of the entire USM community. Accordingly, parents of students are expected to cooperate with the administration of the school, including but not limited to the Board of Trustees, the Head and Assistant Head of School, and the administrators in charge of various departments in the event that a parent refuses to cooperate reasonably, the Head of School has the right to take such action as s(he) deems appropriate, including but not limited to the dismissal of the student.
Because we have concluded that your actions toward the Middle School TEAM over the past year did not comport with our Parent-School Partnership Common Trust and Handbook, we respectfully request that you locate another school for __ to continue his education next year.
