Regarding the looming diesel shortage. Jet fuel is basically high grade kerosene, which is only like a step up from diesel fuel. Is there any plants to squelch unnecessary air travel until this crisis has passed?

As great as they are the big oil companies are in fact a part of this massive screwing being put on the American people . A bill was passed into law right before the end of Obama's last term that has allowed the oil/energy industry to shut down domestic oil market price indexing . All petroleum products are now sold exclusively on the only market now left the global market . What this means is they can now sell oil produced here in the United States to the highest bidder on the global market instead of having to sell it here in our country at a lower price . This is going to eventually push our prices up as high as Europe pays which means we are looking at paying 25 dollars or more a gallon for gasoline and diesel prices will be even higher than that . And guess what not a single politician is calling to repeal this law . No doubt because of our pathetically corrupt lobying laws which allow big oil to purchase as many of our politicians as they please
American oil companies are owned and run mostly by American citizens. When you make an investment In the Oil production industry you need the return of your money. You can’t always afford to contribute your income to the greater good.
