15 YEARS LATER: On this day in 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 made an emergency landing on the Hudson River in New York City with no fatalities following a bird strike shortly after takeoff.
Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger became a hero and a household name.

I live in South Carolina. And one of the news channels talked about the lost golf clubs like they were once alive. Many things lost in the Hudson. Luggage, clothing, shoes, what have you. But OMG Y'all.
