IMO, it is a suicidal strategy for Taiwan to be preparing for war with China and the US shouldn't be encouraging it.
Our military presence in the region has been nothing more than a sore point of contention that has been festering for decades. The greater the forces, the greater the threat that Taiwan will be invaded by China and our vital high tach supply source will be cut off.
The US needs to end our self inflicted problems of manufacturing dependencies, instead of escalating problems within China.

Studies show that small reductions in oxygen levels can result in depression and attitude changes. Rather than concentrate wasted effort on controlling weapons a consecrated effort should be made on repairing the damage to the environment caused by both man made errors and the effect of nature.
A focused effort on gun control is not only a wasted effort but an expenditure of assets that must be refocused on the actual emotional problems. If all the guns were controlled or eliminated individuals suffering from Oxygen Deprivation Anger would choose any of several weapons to inflict their anger on others.
Oxygen Deprivation Anger (ODA) appears to be most evident in areas where population density and resultant air pollution is concentrated. Road Rage in heavy traffic is an obvious indication of this phenomenon. Cities with intensely heavy population areas are also indicative of this effect.
With the current extreme rate of air pollution from rampant wild fire and extensive volcanic activity the cause and effect is further exasperated. With an increase of global heating more buildings are enclosed with air conditioning. The resulting enclosures result in lower oxygen levels and increased carbon dioxide levels.
There is a limited amount of research on the effect of minor reductions in breathing oxygen on emotional stability and social attitude. However, some studies suggest that low oxygen levels can have negative effects on both.
One study published in the International Journal of High Altitude Medicine and Biology (Paik et al., 2014) found that people who were exposed to low oxygen levels experienced increased anxiety and decreased mood. The study involved exposing participants to low oxygen levels for 60 minutes in either a hypobaric chamber or a normobaric chamber. The results showed that participants in the hypobaric chamber had higher levels of anxiety and decreased mood compared to those in the normobaric chamber.
Another study published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research (Frijling et al., 2015) found that low oxygen levels may be linked to increased depressive symptoms in people with anxiety disorders. The study involved 22 people with panic disorder and 15 healthy controls. Participants were exposed to normal air or air with 12% oxygen concentration for 20 minutes. The results showed that the panic disorder group had higher levels of depressive symptoms after exposure to low oxygen levels compared to the control group.
In terms of social attitude, one study published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Review (Greitemeyer, 2009) found that low oxygen levels may lead to decreased prosocial behavior and increased aggression. The study involved exposing participants to air with different oxygen levels (normal, 17% oxygen, and 15% oxygen). The results showed that participants who breathed air with 15% oxygen were less likely to help others and more likely to engage in aggressive behavior compared to those who breathed normal air.
Overall, these studies suggest that minor reductions in breathing oxygen may have negative effects on emotional stability and social attitude. It is important to note that these studies were conducted under controlled conditions and the effects may differ in real-world situations. More research in this area is needed to fully understand the effects of low oxygen levels on emotional and social functioning.
