The Azov Batallion, is a neo-Nazi unit based in Mariupol, formed in May 2014. They drew controversy over war crimes and neo-Nazi ideology. Azov uses controversial symbols including the Wolfsangel insignia used by the Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht during WW2. In 2018, United States Congress blocked military aid to Azov due to its white supremacist ideology.
