The mother of a 6-year-old boy who shot and wounded his teacher in Newport News, Virginia, earlier this year pleaded guilty to felony child neglect. NBC News’ Lindsey Reiser has the details.

They have to be joking, 6 months, is disgusting & should get a least 20 years for not being a good parent and allowing her child to access a loaded gun. The boy was telling her that he was going to shoot his teacher and that he hated her. Sorry but she needs to be held accountable & the child put in an insane asylum to never be released.

Yea I'm gonna go ahead and say it, Oppositional Defiant Disorder F91.3 now, in 6 more years Conduct Disorder F91.1, and in 6 more years Antisocial Personality Disorder F60.2. It's still a mystery how these individuals come to exist. Almost all humans have experienced intense anger and wanting to act on it, but for the majority there's this cognitive check in place that prevents us from acting on this thoughts. But not this group. They really are unique in a sad and terrifying way…

I hope her sentence is light. Nobody died and she clearly already had her hands full with a difficult disabled child.

Thank God Abby and the Children are ok. In prison they should teach her parenting skills, although I don't think her child belongs anywhere near the public. No one knows where they have him, but I hope he is getting mental health help!!!!!!
They shouldn’t at all go light on her. And that child needs to be permanently removed from her custody, and be put away for extensive mental treatment. If not, mark my words, he’ll be killing, down the road…..
You know, growing up, my mother wouldn't even let me have a water gun let alone any other kind of gun.

Mom needs to do every year in prison as if she shot the teacher. Hold these parents responsible and accountable for what their children do. If mom goes to jail the kid goes to the foster care system if nobody else wants to be responsible for them. Liberals getting what they voted for.

SHE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN BETTER CARE; IT IS HARD 6YER OLD. IF THE CHILD WAS OLDER, SHE COULD HAVE SENT HIM TO CLASSES. CHILDREN DONT HAVE THE MINDSET TO UNDERSTAND YOU KEEP A FIER ARME LOCKED UP OR A TRIGGER LOCK AROUND A CHILD.
