It is ridiculous to blame the tool instead of the perpetrator.
The current political and medical systems don't help mentally ill individuals one bit.
Unsecured gun free zones only help the perp by creating defenseless victims.
If a place wants to be a gun free zone, it must provide security at every entry point.
If a senator's daughter attended this gun free school there would have been security at every entry point and this mentally ill individual wouldn't have gotten past the sidewalk.
The second amendment prevents legislators from creating an effective regulatory environment, and this is the result! Silence the second: 1.5 sentences of twee, sentimental, and evidently dangerous twaddle left by dead ancestors to visit not freedom, but chaos, terror, trauma, death, and misery upon, and paranoia among, the lives of their living descendants.
