This is happening all over the world because we have billionaires buying hundreds more f properties in states they don’t live & tripling rents / home purchase prices in the area pricing out anyone in labor jobs / hospitality jobs.
Until regulation is passed that stops the greed of the world and supports local residents who actually live in the state, this is gonna just keep getting worse.
I am a native Hawaiian and live on Maui. First things first, get rid of all the dirty corrupted politicians. Then maybe things will change. Affordable now days doesn’t mean for local families, it means affordable for outsiders. I’m not against people moving here. But we need keep local families home. Or should we start taking back our land by any means possible.

One thing we learn from history is that we do not learn from history. These poor people have dealt with losing their homelands since Captain Cook discovered the islands. Once Europe started settling those islands, Hawaiians were screwed.

This just about everybody I met a native Hawaiian some years back and asked how you leave such a beautiful place for the states and he said then in 2014 it had gotten to expensive so he and his family moved to Oregon and was moving from there because of the same reason…Insane….

Just because you were born here doesn't make you Hawaiian, you still have an individual race. Unfortunately alotnof the locals are the ones ruining the state.
