Russia is NOT a UN MEMBER anyway. After the collapse of the USSR, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, the Baltic republics were admitted to the UN by a vote of the UN General Assembly. Russia was not officially admitted to the UN. Not a single country in the world voted for Russia's accession. The legal admission procedure was violated.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov refers to the UN Charter, but there is not a word about Russia in the UN Charter. Who does not believe – read the charter, it is in the public domain. All talk about the fact that Russia is the legal successor of the USSR is legal nonsense and a provocation. With the same success, Turkmenistan can declare itself the successor of the USSR and demand a seat in the UN Security Council or Georgia or Estonia. The size of the country doesn't matter. There is a legal procedure for any country to join the organization and it has not been followed. Russia was simply tolerated at the UN turning a blind eye to procedural violations. It's time to open them up and acknowledge the violations.
