Wow! I’m pleasantly surprised that New Zealand’s Prime Minister Chris Hipkins truly understands what non-interference and respect for each country’s sovereignty and internal affairs really means. PM Hipkins sounds like a strong leader with a mind of his own. No push over. What a contrast he is to his Australian counterpart, PM Tony Albanese, whom from day dot, has shown to be a weak, spineless leader simply parroting what his masters in the US and UK are telling him what to do and say. Statesmanship is a long forgotten art in today's democracies. Maybe Hipkins can remind his elected counterparts that they need to act for the greater good, not just pander to the mob in order to get reelected.
NZ and China practice free trade, the US places tarrifs on most of our exports even though we are supposed to be friends, so we have no choice but to be nice to the country that lets us trade freely and avoid being trampled by giants
