Former NFL star Michael Oher, whose life was depicted in the movie ‘The Blind Side’, claims in a newly filed lawsuit the film was all a lie and that the Tuohy family exploited him for their own benefit. Oher now wants to sever all legal ties to them. The Tuohys have not responded to comment. NBC News’ Kaylee Hartung reports.

I’ve only seen The Blind Side once or twice, but I found the story of Michael very sad and interesting. Finding out the Tuohy’s have been capitalizing off of his stance in football is downright disgusting.

Anybody who knows about college football recruiting could smell a rat from the opening moments of the movie. Michael Oher was already a high school All-American when the Tuohy family "discovered" him. What a surprise, after manipulating Michael and showering him with (highly suspect) gifts, the Memphis, Tennessee star athlete signed with the Tuohy's alma mater, Ole Miss. It is not surprising at all that this horrible family essentially misled and tricked the defenseless young man, and profited from his name without his consent. I hope he sues the pants off of them.

I think emotions are causing everyone to jump to conclusions. Is it a coincidence that Michael is coming out with this lawsuit as he is just promoting a book? Looks like a stunt to cause his book sales to skyrocket, but let the judges do the judging at this point.
All of the movie money should have gone to Michael to give him a shot at being an independent adult. If the Touhy’s are his family they’ll still be his family. The movie left me cold mainly because of a scene where Michael saw his older brother working at a restaurant. They family showed no interest in asking after the brother or keeping the brothers connected – only one scene but that would have been true care and altruism beyond football right there.

It is really disgusting what human beings do for money, the movie was released in 2009 and until today 2023 he comes to claim and talk bad things about the family that took him in. Michael you are ungrateful. If that family had not taken you in no one would have known you.
But when that movie was made and then released in cinemas no one mention it was a lie? So many interviews… no mention it was a lie … What? Money from interviews had ended?

There are two evils in this: DHS and the NCAA. No telling what the Tuohys had to do to try and satisfy them both. There is more to this. Let's see some real numbers on who got what before assigning blame.
Our former foster kids that we raised from 9 weeks of age, also in Tennessee and with the pathetic DHS, basically adopted us when they turned 18. They chose to make us their parents after DHS would not do their job and terminate parental rights of the abusers. Why didn't Oher do the same?

Be a part of the solution, not problems. Right now everything is unclear and just speculation. I’m curious as to why it took him so long to speak up? Where did the love goes? If I was in this predicament I’d have handled it in a much civilized manner because after all if it wasn’t for the family I would be homeless still, and no one would have given me the chance to be where I’m at today. I hope they all can find peace and be grateful to each other.
