NY state is largely responsible for the backlash against Roe. Blanket criminal immunity for any abortion in NY essentially removed all due process, a foundation of Roe. SCOTUS concurred and ironically argued a state's independent regulation, as exampled by NY, was confined by Roe and should be freed from Roe's restrictions. This ruling ironically gives more protection to NY's law, can no longer be challenged under Roe's "due process" or 3rd term regulation guidelines. I'm sure they understood they might be rolling the dice but probably thought Roe would not be challenged a few years back when it was enacted.
I foresee blood in the streets from the upcoming civil war that is going to break out in this country. No one will be safe. Especially SCOTUS. Their days are numbered. The majority will not let what that kangaroo court is doing stand. I hope they all have bunkers to lock themselves away in.
