Now is ‘not the moment’ for developers to take Maui land: HUD deputy secretary

Developers should not take advantage of Maui residents who lost homes in the wildfire and allowing residents to keep their land should be the priority, said Department of Housing and Urban Development Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman. “If there are people who are using this moment to take advantage of folks while they’re at their lowest … I find that distasteful,” Todman said.

  1. Only the WORST HUMANS that are trifling, greedy, corrupt, narcissistic, whose "God" is Money, would have the AUDACITY to witness an UN-BEARABLE amount of PAIN being forcefully placed on the lives of many people, would be thinking about money and how they can take advantage of this whole situation. MY prime suspects are them HOME INSURANCE companies and I think back to last year how some FL residents found out that their insurance plan was terminated AFTER they had lost everything. So if them insurance companies can terminate someone's insurance plan without telling them, watch them lose everything, and continue on with their life as if nothing happened?? Then these terrible folks are the same ones who would watch someone suffer with an un-bearable amount of pain, but are only thinking of how they can profit off of their pain…. Whenever I hear A.I. bots say things like "Humans are BAD" or "Humans are the VIRUS", I can't help but agree with them… 😑🤬😡

  2. Look at NY Look at all of america

  3. Well, the Maui people voted for Biden so they must call on him now for help, I am sure he will do everything he can to help them, like he helps in Ukraine and how he helps all those illegals to come in, that will need housing, medical and and and, so no worry Biden will help you, you voted for him.

  4. Can the Hawaiian people buy back their land and make it their own again?

  5. Hawaii is a blue state and fortunately we have a President who is a democrat. If Trump was president, he wouldn’t even recognize Hawaii as a state.TRUMP THE TRAITOR

  6. 900 are still missing.

  7. Families lost everything and are looking for a way out and were telling them to not sell like it's our business. What a joke.

  8. She's just paying lip service. the government doesn't stop billionaire's from buying up land, they do it after every wildfire catastrophe in California.

  9. That is one way to not answer a single question he asked

  10. How does someone end up in that position when they don’t know the difference between asked and aksed?

  11. It wouldn't be the first time a developer resorted to fire to get rid of landowners.

  12. (In my Bane voice) That comes later…

  13. Do Not sell your Family's land to GREEDY real estate investors people, KEEP HAWAII HAWAII….

  14. No one should be able to take advantage of the those affected by this event
Sacred land even more so. With all the keiki😢 that perished is unfathomable. Please be sensitive to their cultural brliefs and spirituality.🙏🤙🏝🌊

  15. Ot some just trying to capitalize of a disaster

  16. Hopefully this wasn't. Pre planning event

  17. Have we not stolen enough from the natives? Every square inch of BLM land should be returned to the native Americans

  18. Help should be given in the horrible devastating state of Maui. An aide package should be along with other relief to rebuild the help that Maui needs. The lively hood, and the revenue that's brought in the shoreline and the backdrop of that area of the homes that were ingulfed by fire. Weather building a quick but sturdy set up for the people that are tourist that do come, can be able to purchase and may other areas that surround the Hawaii islands can transport the goods that bring tourist in. As for the building part, cargo can bring building materials needed loaded and brought to them. There must also be in place of the cost that won't be a price of price gouging and prey on the people of Maui. May the earth that upon the feet of those, be healed and new life again. Nothing can take the beauty within each and everyone of Maui.

  19. Doesn't matter. They'll get it all.

  20. Why do we keep treating people different from each other? When there's a disaster everywhere else it doesn't matter. Some of them may actually want to sell. They just had everything destroyed. They may want to cash out. Removing options is controlling.
