Why is there an absence in rigorous testing of the submersible before making this commercially available? Pilots will require thousands of flight hours and plane engines must also go through these testing before releasing these to the public. As any sort of failure would result in the cause of lives. Defending the company instead of taking accountability of this event just shows the desire of refraining a possible claim on liability of such event.

The fact that Oceansgate privately had know that Sunday that the sub imploded immediately after comms and tracking were both lost simultaneously and shared that fact with the Navy,….yet, while deliberately misleading the public for four days is the real tragedy here. The families were hanging on to false hope for days until Thursday when Wood's Hole Oceanographic Institute finally confirmed what was known all along on Sunday by traveling to Titan's last known position and then descending straight to the bottom where Titan's wreckage was found,…exactly where they expected to find it.
This is the Delorean of manufactured submersibles with no regards to safety or the lives which they may effect….this company should be shut down and this guy should now be responsible for this tragedy. There isn't anyone above him to take the fall, so he is the one.
I hate this… Deep Dive expeditions should continue yes but not by Ocean Gate or anyone wanting to commercialize or invite others without certifications… Sadly this will put a stain on Ocean Exploration or even possible commercial Exploration. The amount of safety disregard and lack of professionalism from Ocean Gate is absurd and it boggles my mind that they legally could do this and no one stopped them for something as dangerous as space travel.
There's always risk but risk and safety precautions are two different things, having risk doesn't mean disregard safety measures… We have three times deeper than the Titanic successfully as well as other deep dives and we have for decades now, this is for sure very doable. So don't let this absurd incident with uncertified and shotty methods taint marvels of engineering and innovation that's been going on for decades now.
That's not research, it's tourism for the uber-wealthy.
