An off-duty pilot has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to shut off the engines on an Alaska Airlines flight.
At the time of the Sunday incident, off-duty captain Joseph David Emerson was sitting in the flight deck jump seat, which is in the cockpit, Alaska Airlines said.
Emerson was heard in the moments prior to the incident saying something similar to, “I’m not right,” preliminary information showed.

NO MORE JUMP SEAT riders makes perfect sense. The 2 pilots are the only ones that have any business in the cockpit anyway, plus the risk of this happening again by a jump seater is eliminated, …if jump seaters are prohibited. .
