I support this bill assuming that they will be given paid training this will save more lives!! It takes police 30mins to an hour to organize go in and take out any threat. If a school shooter comes, all the armed teacher's just need to lock the doors and simply hold a angle on the entrance away from sight simple as that.

God help us, Republican leaders are ignorant. Anything, anything to not say the issue is access to and types of guns. What do they think a teacher is going to be able to do with a handgun (you giving them AR-15s?) against someone in body armor with an AR-15? If police/border patrol "professionals" were afraid to enter the classroom, or even look in the window to possibly shoot perp, what chance does someone with minimal training going to do? Why is the answer with Republican leaders/NRA, more guns? Do you really think a teacher is going to be able to shoot a kid they know/taught? The guard at the Buffalo grocery store was gunned down because he was out-gunned. Get the dammm guns off the street. We need to start holding gun manufacturers libel for this, the only way this changes is by hurting their bottom line. Republicans pretty much removed libel from them, but it can still be done when shown their advertising targets young people. They can't buy cigarettes or booze, but can buy a mass-murder weapon. Makes absolutely no sense. Does anyone remember in CA when bank robbers (2) kept an entire police force at bay because they were body armor and had AR-15s and the police didn't, so they couldn't stop them. Yes, the police got better guns, but they are police, this shouldn't be teachers, guards, etc. Level the field by removing the gun access by civilians.

Also have intentionally made a good percentage of the North America population- to be entirely clueless to the vital, must have, importance of our great 2ND AMENDMENT. Fact being that we North America People must have our great 2ND AMENDMENT internal protection/defense for We People of North America! As our great UNITED STATES MILITARY SERVICES only protect against external threats. Due to one great fact, that our great UNITED STATES MILITARY SERVICES are controlled by the same people who would be the great internal threat to our destruction of all of this North America Land, and We North America People.
So with all the hats that our poor teachers have to wear, we now want them to be armed security. Where exactly do they keep their guns to keep it safe and from being a distraction. The last thing we need is more guns in our schools or for our teachers to become designated targets.
That is a stupid approach to preventing school shootings. Are the teachers going to be armed with ARs? Who is going to protect and comfort 30 kids while a teacher unfamiliar with shootouts goes against a crazed person? Are we going to shift the blame to the teachers? Ban the frigging military weapons and make some responsible gun laws!

All of these comments are saying that the teachers "Will now have to use guns in school" but that isn't the case. It ALLOWS them too. Also, my 3rd-grade teacher had a metal baseball bat to protect us in case of a shooter, I am pretty sure those can deal as much damage to students as a pistol.

How long will it be before a teacher shoots a student because they felt threatened? Or has their gun taken by a student? Or has an accidental discherge? These all seem way more likely than the teacher using it to stop a school shooting. FYI there are schools RIGHT NOW with armed teachers in certain states in the U.S. Teachers carry their firearm on a voluntary basis. No one is "forcing teachers to carry guns". It can be anonymous. You can hide a gun on your person and many don't know who is carrying on a particular day and who is not. It is a deterrent. There are schools with signs out front stating that there are armed teachers trained to protect with a firearm. If you are a nut job looking to inflict maximum casualties is that school going to be on your list or the one that advertises itself as a "gun free zone"? Is it a pleasant reality? No. But if a teacher wants to carry and is willing to train, let them do it.
Sad that the men of Ohio & Texas regularly fail to protect their women and children by spending $ on mental health, restricting sale of combat weapons to teens, and refusal to hire armed school guards. Now they want the school marm to wield guns. Who is next arming. Nurses? Will they get additional hazard pay? Dewine and Abbott are bufoons. Men of the USA need to stand up to the inept politicians.
I can’t say I understand the US culture as I don’t live there, but as an outsider looking in this is nothing short of bonkers. I can’t even fathom the idea of arming teachers being considered in my country let alone written into law.
