An Oklahoma judge exonerated Glynn Simmons, 71, after he spent nearly 50 years in prison. Simmons was ruled innocent after prosecutors agreed that key evidence in his case was not turned over to his defense lawyers. KFOR’s Ali Meyer reports.

So what happens to the police and prosecutor who brought the case before the court?
Treating incarcerated people humanely is very important for the many that are innocent and the system is against them.
Imagine the psychological stress being locked up as an innocent for 48 years, it’s pure horror.
Wait a second…
Dawg wasn't even IN THE STATE when the crime happened? How tf was he the one arrested?
The majority of exonerated people have been Black men. This could only be possible under a system which sees being Black as a crime.
What’s crazy is that according to law in Oklahoma the falsely accused are eligible for only $175000. He should be awarded MILLIONS, generational wealth money. He could’ve been a CEO or built a wildly successful business
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
These Gov't workers should pay for his back pay.
No matter how much money he receives, no money in the world will get those 50 years back, poor man, the American people were right all along, the justice system must be repaired. I'm a police officer in Dubai city and our justice system is perfect
This is America.
Where's the dirty cops and prosecutor and judge that stole this mans life?
Please 50 millions dollars for him 🇵🇷
Disgusting 🤢🤮
Over half his life – beyond shameful. The cases of all long term inmates need to be investigated. The original prosecutors, if still alive, should be held criminally liable for wrongful imprisonment when they have not followed the rule of law – like turning over key evidence to the defense. The taxpayers will bear the burden of the settlement Mr. Simmons is rightfully due. Where is the accountability for the District Attorney's Office?
So exactly where was he, & what was he doing ???– what exactly proves his actual innocence ?
Another day in the united states of America
That lady said "thank you Jesus" ? Why would Jesus sit back and watch a man rot in jail like he's binging a netflix show for 48 years?
Amerikkka
An investigation needs to be done of all cases old & recent. Not saying everyone in there is innocent but even if there’s a 1% chance that there are a handful that are is truly disgusting
Well he can now get back..by having as many Beckies by his side as he will be able to afford real soon! 😂
Black man = Guilty until proven Innocent
Imagine how it would feel to even be sent to prison for 50 hours. No amount of money paid to him could ever be enough.
We are all sorry !! Humanity is sorry ! The world is sorry ! Please forgive us ! We as humans all are responsible for every wrong committed anywhere in the world !
They stold his life! 😨
Thank God for people who helped him. God will take of the evil people who hurt him. Hope he gets millions.
He needs to sue bigtime!! !!
Bless his heart ❤️.. such a shame 🙏
Wow,No amount of money can get back the years he lost, but in this case $100 million tax free should be awarded Immediately for starters.
Im glad their righting their wrongs
But this ** dont make no sense
he should be getting some money too, and a lot of it.
the court prosecutors need jail time
Accountability!! Time to reverse the patriot act and abolish qualified immunity.
It absolutely sickens me how many Glynn Simmons' there have likely been in this country. Especially but not limited to men and women of color either. Just anyone with a corrupt enough DA and inadequate enough counsel.
Well it’s so easy for the justice system to exonerate him because he already paid the time in prison for the murder 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ now he is gonna have to find a job at his old age in order to start life, so sad.
50 years 😢😢😢😢 how many more so unjust. Some even passing and innocent 😢😢😢. Due too ones color of skin, in my opinion .
Beside the damage done in a wrongful decision I saw that in Oklahoma he would get $175000 which in my opinion doesn’t even come close to compensation for what the state of Oklahoma did to him.
That comes to $3646 for each of the 48 years he spent in prison!
Another horrible thought is what if they had executed him? He was originally sentenced to death!
Remember, the system always work, according to Larry elder
The Founding Fathers set up a system that would release 100 guilty before it would imprison 1 innocent. Generations of cowardice has turned that system into at best a 50/50 crap shoot of either the innocent or guilty getting Justice.
Mr. Simmons, Sir 💙🙏
SLAVERY!!. shackled for no reason and taken from his family for 50 years. They better pay him. So many brothers and sisters are experiencing this. Is this comsidered kidnapping as well🤔. He didnt even live in the same state. America hates its citizens. Glad he is finally released
It’s sad that after all of that he now has to actually sue them just to receive compensation. How is it that they didn’t already offer this man some money for what they did to him. 48 years in prison and they expected him to just get a job as an old man where???
God Bless this man
justice system broken and unfixable
US judges prosecutors and Leo's are a disgrace to our country
I couldnt even imagine. Geez, I pray to the Lord he is able to get everything due and deserve to him.
Of course the attorney focuses on his financial loss over everything else that was stolen from this man.
50 years for a crime he did not do, while murderer walking around free…. These MF will have to explained to god.
Will the for profit prison system at least send him a thank you card for all the earnings?
So those who lied and put him there need to be held accountable. This man lost his life, yes I'm saying his life due to 50 years of being locked up. No doubt in my mind that racism was the main factor in him getting locked up. The state of Oklahoma should pay and as well as the federal government! We are in a time where technically is to readily available to gather all the facts to free men and women who have been wrongfully locked away.
