My mom says that every time she was pregnant in the United States, the doctors she went to see offered her an abortion, saying that " there was a possibility that the kids would be born sick or with life threatening diseases". My mom never accepted such a stupid offer. My mom had 22 pregnancies, she had at least two or three sets of twins if I remember correctly, none of which survived, and another baby which died at four months old.
