How long has the dog been in the shelter? I have worked in the animal care profession for 30 years. The dogs are are on their own scale as far as how well they handle shelter inviorment. Some do well others not so well. Behavior team works with the dogs having a hard time adjusting to shelter living. I have seen kennel staff injured by dogs that lose it due to not being able to deal with environment. Sorry to hear about what happened. Prayers for all.
"Mixed breed" equals pitbull mix. Those dogs cannot be trusted. 64 percent of fatal dog bites are from that breed.

Some of these posts are just judgemental and in very poor taste. Use this platform to convey love and compassion. How about some compassion for the volunteers, staff, friends and family of the poor woman who passed away.
That's what happens when others are cruel to animals, they're scared and don't know what to expect.

So sorry for the one that died but my comment is this to anyone that is thinking about getting a pet… treat it with loving kindness and never abuse it as a THEY will love and PROTECT YOU Unconditionally…in this case it seems like that dog was mistreated by someone else in it's life and the poor baby just snapped; unfortunately it's been known to happen… again condolences to the deceased person's family..🙏🙏
My sister adopted a pittbull and he is a sweet dog.She rescued him from being euthanized at the pound.
I am ever so sorry for everyone concerned. The family members and friends of that wonderful woman who gave of herself in this massive effort to care for and protect the animals abused by humans who lack even the basics of humanity. Dogs who have been so terribly damaged by those whose job it is to love and care for these creatures. Creatures who are yet another gift from OUR Creator. Also is the courage displayed by the woman who jumped in to help,knowing full well that she also would be bit. My heart goes out to all who carry on in this valuable work of saving damaged lives. If ONLY our sorrow could be of value.

As an animal lover myself and someone who has worked with pittbulls. I never been bitten i can show you plenty pictures. Please do not think all dogs are bad. They are not, people need to understand them first.

I feel the same as many of you must feel. Sometimes people don't realize that some dogs or other pets too, have been so mistreated made to fight with other dogs, from the time they are pups that it's imbedded in their Brains, and sometimes people don't realize there is a trigger mechanism that we have no way of knowing that exists inside of them. Because they have been hurt their whole lives they don't know any better as much as it's against their nature and they only attack when threatened or for their own protection. This particular dog probably was just too far gone and never had a kind day until they were brought by kind people to a place that would give them something they would never have known before Love and Kindness. I'm sorry for this person who who didn't make it. But I know they are in a better place now. God is with them. God Bless Them. Mary
